The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) celebrated the opening its new electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, in partnership with the Orlando Utility Commission (OUC), on Dec. 4, 2024, during a plaque unveiling ceremony.
The addition of OUC’s ReCharge Mobility Hub, located near the OCCC’s North Concourse, offers seamless, hassle-free charging for residents, visitors and event attendees. With user-friendly interfaces and fast-charging capabilities, the new stations make it easier than ever to travel sustainably.
“The opening of this charging hub showcases the importance of providing charging for all types of EVs, ensuring that the public is able to charge and power up in no time,” said Orange County’s Chief Sustainability & Resilience Officer Carrie Black. “Located on the Convention Center campus, this hub provides convenient high-speed charging in Orange County’s bustling I-Drive District.”
The ceremony included remarks from Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and OUC Commission President Larry Mills, who both emphasized the importance of sustainable programs and its role in advancing regional goals. The state-of-the art charging hub supports eco-friendly travel, while demonstrating the OCCC’s dedication to fostering partnerships that benefit residents, visitors, and the local economy.
