An all-new mobile navigation app is now available for download in the App Store for iPhone and iPad as well as on Google Play, making it easier to explore the country’s second-largest convention center.
The OCCC Campus Wayfinding app, which can be found by searching for “OCCC Wayfinding” in either app store, elevates and further enhances the 22Miles software-based wayfinding kiosks that were installed at the OCCC in early 2018. The new mobile tool offers turn-by-turn directions for users as they navigate our campus.
“We were thrilled when we launched our 16 wayfinding kiosks in 2018,” says Yulita Osuba, the Center’s Deputy Director. “We wanted to expand the availability of the wayfinding technology by bringing it to Convention Center attendees' mobile devices.”
The OCCC Campus Wayfinding app has been designed with the busy convention attendee in mind as the wayfinding feature does not require connectivity to a cellular or Wi-Fi network to function, once initially downloaded from the app store.
Additional features of the app include campus maps, transportation information and the all-new OCCC Alerts section. The OCCC Alerts section is designed to curate announcements shared through the Convention Center's Twitter account to ensure guests have easy access to real-time updates like parking availability and basic public safety news.
“This mobile application is an extension of our employees,” said Mike Distler, the Center’s Information Technology Project Leader. “It was designed to convey simple, easy-to-follow directions for anyone who might need a little assistance when visiting the Center of Hospitality.”
