We’re happy to report we’re in the final phases of construction for our new International Drive Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge, expected to open soon, will create a critical and convenient connection between the Orange County Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Orlando.
Crews have been working tirelessly to finish the pedestrian bridge which will give conventioneers and visitors to I-Drive a safe and accessible way to cross over the busy roadway below.
The covered, 410-foot bridge span features an illuminated passageway with a stylized interior combined with the convenience of elevators and escalators. The project is managed by Orange County Public Works and is part of Mayor Teresa Jacobs’ Walk-Ride-Thrive! Pedestrian Safety Initiative, which has a goal to establish and maintain a coordinated, comprehensive and consistent response to Orange County’s pedestrian and bicycle safety issues.
Since construction began, the bridge has taken shape right in front of our eyes to become a gorgeous addition to the I-Drive landscape.
Stay tuned for details about the bridge’s opening as we toast the county’s dedication to providing visitors a convenient way to connect to both sides of I-Drive, the heart of Convention Center District.
