International Organization for Standardization Certification (ISO) Certification

The OCCC is the 1st convention center in the United States to receive ISO certification for the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS).

Our Environment System paved way for the implementation of an Environmental Services' Recycling Program. Prior to EMS, we recycled less than 1% percent of total waste stream.  


2012 Results

• 59% of all waste recycled/diverted
• 2,816.68 tons recycled in total
• 2503. 09 tons Class 3/C&D
• 305.94 tons cardboard
• 7.65 tons office paper
• 42.06 tons of food scrap

Savings: $126,750 in landfill disposal fees

Rebate Savings:
• $26,348.33 cardboard
• $926.28 paper
• Diverted 12.07 tons of yard waste
• Total class 3 and C&D recycled 72.41%

 

Internal Agency Impact

• Streamlined communications concerning environmental practices
• Increased environmental awareness among employees

During a tradeshow, the average attendee produces approximately
20 pounds of solid waste per day - *GMIC – Green Meeting Industry Council
